Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This restaurant is tucked in the corner of the square right next to the church that used to be a Roman temple. A nice setting for this excellent restaurant. The two owners are doing the waiting and they are knowledgeable, polite and very helpful. We are here for lunch as this period they do not open for dinner. My daughters had a pasta dish each, which each had a nice twist. I had taken the sacchettino di vitello (packet of veal, ie veal inside bacon). It was cooked inside a lovely mushroom sauce. Truly exceptional. My wife have thinly sliced carpaccio of baccalà, which was elegant. She had a vegetable side dish with a variety of vegetables, which were cooked innovatively. Altogether highly recommended. Together with wine and 2 desserts we paid 95 euro for 4 people."
"Impressive quality, service and originality. I had nettles (ortiche) soup and tortelloni, an extremely highly intensive labour plate, with exquisite taste. The owners do take care of their guests and plate. I come to have lunch because I was in Sulmona, but the experience is worth a journey by itself."
"This Michelin-listed spot only opens for lunch — and it’s packed for good reason. We tried several dishes, but the standout was definitely the Coratella di agnello (lamb offal with onions and white wine). Rich, savory, and expertly prepared with no gaminess at all — even the lamb liver was juicy and tender, perfect with their fresh bread and olive oil. If you’re curious about bold Abruzzo flavors and exceptional meat dishes, this is the place to go."
"It is easy to see why this place has a Michelin plaque on the exterior wall. Excellent authentic Italian food, fantastic service, and even better pricing. If you are ever in the area, we highly recommend going and sitting down for an amazing meal."
"This is the kind of restaurant one wishes one could find in every Italian town. Alas, they're becoming increasingly rare. Local, highest quality dishes prepared with care, knowledge, taste, and years of experience that have not diminished the passion for serving a fantastic meal to every single customer. An established family affair, frequented mostly by locals, which is where you should want to go. Open only for lunch for a reason: the kitchen is strictly headed by La Nona, who deserves her time off after her midday campaign."
"One word: excellent! Michelin guide mentioned. Really, really good. Best restaurant experience of the Italy trip so far"
"Top notch restaurant in Sulmona! The real Italian experience! Excellent food and impeccable service. We come to Italy every 2 years to visit our family, and I can say this is one of the best meals I’ve ever had in life!"
"Excellent, well-established place for lunch. We had a superb meal. Very busy, reserve ahead if possible. A little off the beaten track, but we'll worth seeking out. We have friends who have been going there for years. A very nice rendition of Abbruzese cuisine."
